Victoria vs New South Wales
Melbourne Cricket Ground
26th, 28th-31st December 1908
Lineups:
Victoria- TS Warne, TJ Hastings, C McKenzie, VS Ranford, WW Armstrong, PA McAlister, EV Carroll, LP Vernon, FJ Laver, GR Hazlitt, JV Saunders
New South Wales- AJY Hopkins, SE Gregory, MA Noble, H Carter, A Cotter, EF Waddy, W Bardsley, CG Macartney, A Diamond, JC Barnes, SH Emery
First Innings
Wickets were very hard to come by Victoria as three centuries and a pair of 77's sent New South Wales flyig past the 600 mark before declaring. An unbeaten partnership of 243 for the eighth wicket is easily a new record.
NSW 602-7
CG Macartney 136*; A Diamond 110*; SE Gregory 100; A Cotter 77; EF Waddy 77
FJ Laver 4-160
Another NSW dominating performance, another follow on, although this time the total should be within reach for Victoria, but can they possibly make it tough when their opponents return to the crease? A couple of batsmen down the order came up big to make the score somewhat respectable.
NSW 602-7
VIC 311
EV Carroll 97; FJ Laver 71
AJY Hopkins 3-61; SH Emery 3-98
Second Innings
A much start when Victoria lost their second wicket after scoring 107 runs, compared to the first innings where they had lost half their wickets before passing the century. A pair of 70+ totals were the best they managed however as no-one really excelled to take over the game.
NSW 602-7
VIC 311 + 402
PA McAlister 79; TS Warne 75
AJY Hopkins 4-65; SH Emery 3-126
It was a pretty pedestrian end to the match and New South Wales did lose two early wickets to give Victoria some confidence, but that was soon squashed by NSW taking victory inside a single session.
NSW 602-7 + 112-2
VIC 311 + 402
SE Gregory 49*
FJ Laver 1-37
New SOuth Wales win by eight wickets.
This blog is to share results in my sports replay gaming. All of the games involve pencil, paper, cards and dice; no digital gaming here. Most games are full season replays, but there will also be some fictional competitions thrown in. It's been a while, but I hope that 2017 sees a return of blog activity.

- I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris
