COMMERCE, Ga. - ATLANTA - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 29th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals listing lane, driver name, vehicle, elapsed time, and top speed:

Ron Capps is top of the pile after one round of qualifying with the only time in the 4.0's. Robert Hight and Tim Wilkerson round out the top three in the 4.1's. Previous event winner Matt Hagan is thirteenth, three-thousandth  of a second up on the man he beat in the final, Jeff Arend.
