This rough and tumble affair could have gone either way via a knockout as both men went down to the mat, but it's the Venezuelan who moves on, and the Californian who goes home. Gonzalez looked well in control through the first two rounds; only being hit twice in total. Newsboy then turned it on for the third before losing seven straight, including the round he hit the deck: round six.
A real hard contest had Brown ahead on points going to the judges, but an early takedown by Gonzalez meant he won the round, and looked like it would be a cakewalk from that point on. It was only in the final round that Newsboy once again found his groove and hit his man with two thunderous shots, the second of which dropped Betulio to the mat. Brown kept the hits coming, right up to the bell, but was unable to knock out his opponent.
