About M.E. myself and I

Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom
I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris

CW 1919/20 (S23) Game 2: Victoria vs New South Wales

Victoria vs New South Wales
Melbourne Cricket Ground
26th, 28th-30th December 1913

Lineups:
Victoria- ER Mayne, J Ryder, RL Park, FA Baring, VS Ransford, WW Armstrong, JL Keating, AEV Hartkopf, JL Ellis, EA McDonald, H Ironmonger

New South Wales- H Carter, W Bardsley, J Bogle, TJE Andrews, AF Kippax, AT Ratcliffe, HSTL Hendry, C Kelleway, WF Ives, AA Mailey, HRC Norman

First Innings
If the groundskeepers wanted anything other than a bowling wicket, they were fighting a losing battle. New South Wales won the toss and liked the idea of giving their bowlers first crack on this pitch. A match isn't won or lost in the first half of the first innings, but things started poorly for Victoria, managing only a pair of decent scores, leaving them to try and emulate their opponents.

VIC 192
RL Park 48; ER Mayne 43
HSTL Hendry 3-37; AA Mailey 3-56; HRC Norman 3-65

It was rather predictable that New South Wales would also struggle to put up big numbers, but opener W Bardsley did score over half the teams' runs before he fell at 203-4, putting up a fine partnership with recent triple-centurion J Bogle. H Ironmonger managed to find his groove during a late stint with the ball, taking four wickets in a row.

VIC 192
NSW 324
W Bardsley 102; J Bogle 74
H Ironmonger 4-92; WW Armstrong 3-77

Second Innings
The openers amassed 42 runs before they, and RL Park and VS Ransford, were all put to the sword by AA Mailey before any of them could add to the score. WW Armstrong did his best, falling shy of his sixth career century, but, even with the help of willing partners like JL Keating and JL Ellis, it would take hard work to pull a win out of this one. AA Mailey showed that it could be done by also taking three of the last four wickets to earn a ten for the match.

VIC 192 + 290
NSW 324
WW Armstrong 95; JL Ellis 57*
AA Mailey 7-82; TJE Andrews 1-10

The opening partnership held firm for more than half the required score before a sliver of light gave Victoria hope; especially when they took three wickets at the 134 mark, but it was not enough.

VIC 192 + 290
NSW 324 + 159-5
H Carter 54; W Bardsley 40
WW Armstrong 2-60; J Ryder 1-20

New South Wales win by five wickets.
