This blog is to share results in my sports replay gaming. All of the games involve pencil, paper, cards and dice; no digital gaming here. Most games are full season replays, but there will also be some fictional competitions thrown in. It's been a while, but I hope that 2017 sees a return of blog activity.

- I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris

Arrows at Gold - London 2012 Olympics, Women's Individual 1/32 Elimination Round
The Gold medal winning team from Taipei had a mixed day with Chia-En Lin and Ya-Ting Tan both taking come from behind victories; Lin was down 0-4 before hitting a pair of tens and just beating Hashim on the final shot. Chien-Ying Le however lost her first round match as Turkey's Begul Lokluoglu hit four tens to take her place in the next round.
The hotly tipped Koreans also have two women past the first hurdle as Bo Bae Ki and Sung Jin Lee sweep past their opponents 6-0 and the home fans had something to cheer for despite the tough losses of both Naomi Folkard and Amy Oliver as Allison Williamson beat Urantungalag of Mongolia in a shoot-off.

Player of the Game Hockey - NHL 1967/68, Nov 11th
Saturday 11th November 1967
Two goals from Stanfield (3) with some insurance from unexpected players Krake (1) and Lonsberry (1), the latter of which scored the game winning goal as his first point of the season, moved Boston to a fourth straight win and are 4-0-1 at home; Oakland had a first-time scorer of their own as K Douglas (2) grabbed a pair in the third period.
The Maple Leafs are winless in their last four now as M Pronovost's (2) goal just forty-four seconds after the first interval cancelled out Cullen's (2) powerplay effort 4:50 into the first period. This is the third tie in a row for the North Stars. Mikita (10) scores a pair for the Blackhawks but it's Montreal who run away with the points thanks to a four goal haul in the final period. G Tremblay (5) scored twice and added an assist while Backstrom registered three helpers and T Harris (2) scored the empty netter as part of his two point night.
St Louis earn their first ever road win (1-1-4) thanks to Berenson (3) and his game winner; J Roberts assisted on both Blues goals condemning the Penguins to a third straight defeat with one victory in their last six despite Bathgate (5) getting on the scoresheet.

Arrows at Gold - London 2012 Olympics, Women's Individual Preview
After the team events comes the men's and women's individual competition. Sixty-four archers will take part in a traditional elimination tournament through six rounds on their way towards the finals. Each contest pits two competitors head-to-head in a best-of-five sets match. Each archer will fire an arrow, the winner scoring two points with a point each for a tie. The first to six points wins and progresses on to the next round. If the match is tied 5-5 then a single arrow shoot-off is required whereby the winner is the athlete who hits nearest to the centre of the target.
As with the team event each archer is carded and dice rolls are compared to their real life performance in order to determine the score for each shot.

Arrows at Gold - London 2012 Olympics, Womens Team Medal Matches
Mexico vs United States - Bronze Medal
A struggling trio of Mexicans went head to head against another consistent United States performance where the Americans once again found the nine early and often. A full house of nines saw the USA up 54-50 after the first end as Mexico were outside the gold rings on three shots. A single eight in the United States' fifth shot only gave them an extra two point advantage after the second end as their opponents found the bullseye but cancelled it out with a seven.
Mexico pulled themselves up to a competing level with just one eight, but this time their ten was matched by the USA leaving the scores 161-155 with one end remaining. It was too much to ask for Mexico as they returned to their inconsistent shooting. For their part the USA finished with another five nines to claim the bronze medals.
Korea vs Taipei
After an all North American match it was time to turn attention to the all Asian final. Korea stumbled out of the blocks with a six on the very first arrow. A seven and two eights would also score in the opening end and not even their ten could save them, leaving Taipei up 54-48 as they hit all gold except a lone seven on the final shot.
Korea pulled themselves together after that poor end and edged the Taipei archers in the second to claw back a point. Another high-scoring end from Taipei however left little doubt as to which way this match would go, Korea able to tie 55-55 with three tens but that still left them staring down a 162-157 scoreline.
Taipei extended their lead by another two points after three arrows in the final end and, obviously feeling relaxed, proceeded to end the match with a hat trick of tens becoming Olympic gold medalists.

Arrows at Gold - London 2012 Olympics, Womens Team Semifinals
Korea vs Mexico
The first semifinal was a hot mess, especially in the second end where both teams scored under fifty. Korea held a four point lead after the first with two late tens securing their advantage, but neither side would get inside the ten during the second end and only four nines between them were scored. Both teams had landed in the eight ring four times through the first half of the match, with several arrows scoring lower still.
Business picked up in the third thanks to a trio of bullseyes for Korea while Mexico continued to languish in the eights with only two gold-ringed shots to their credit. The final end was a similar story to guarantee a medal for Korea as they progress to the final leaving Mexico in the bronze medal match.
Taipei vs United States
The United States had a unique look about their scoreline with four eights interrupting an otherwise clean sweep of nines. This kept them two points behind at the halfway stage as Taipei found the ten on two occasions. The all gold third ends extended Taipei's lead to four points as they hit another two bullseyes, and they repeated the performance in the fourth end to cement their place in the final to face Korea. USA will play Mexico for the bronze.

Player of the Game Hockey - NHL 1967/68, Nov 7th
Tuesday 7th November 1967
The hurt is over for the Oakland Seals as they find a way to win again after six consecutive defeats, condemning Los Angeles to a seventh game without victory in the process. Ehman (3) was the hero for the Seals as he scored the game winning goal 16:54 into the third period. Boyer (3) and Brennerman (3) had put Okaland ahead 2-0 in the first period before Joyal (5) and a powerplay goal from L MacDonald (6) tied it up.
OAK Hodge (4-5-0 .898) 29/32, Powerplay 0/1
LAK Rutledge (3-4-1 .887) 24/27, Powerplay 1/3

Arrows at Gold - London 2012 Olympics, Womens Team Quarterfinals
Korea vs India
India lost a winnable match in the first end, hitting three sixes. They went on to beat the Koreans in the remaining three ends by a score of 167-162 but ultimately falling five shy of a winning score. Korea were not on song only hitting all gold in the second end, the other ends polluted with eights and seven; they hit the bullseye six times.
With seven tens and just a pair of eights India were the better team and would deservedly be competing for medals if not for that opening end score of forty-four.
Japan vs Mexico
Japan were unable to bring their from from the first round into their contest with Mexico. Whereas in their victory over the Ukrainians Japan managed to score 167 through three ends, only going outside the eight in the final end, here they managed to shoot seven sevens while Mexico hit nothing by 8-9-10.
Despite three sevens in the opening half Japan was tied with the Mexicans 106-106 with four tens, three of which came in the first end. Mexico hit a pair of tens and a mixture of eights and nines as they tried to find their groove. Neither side found the centre in the third end but Mexico's three eights trumped the triple sevens of Japan, and the golden fourth end for Mexico sealed their place into the semifinals where they will face Korea.
Taipei vs Russia
Russia were below par for this one with almost half of their shots (11/24) scoring eight, another two in the second end finding the six. This only made things easier for Taipei as they shot outside of the gold rings once through the first three ends, relaxing in the final go-round with the match won.
China vs United States
One team hit the bullseye five times, the other just twice and both found a pair of sevens. But the real difference came when the United States consistently found the nine; eighteen of their twenty-four arrows hitting the mark. On the other side, for every nine China hit they were finding an eight to go along with it and ultimately losing the match in the third end where they scored no tens but three eights and a seven. The USA did not need a maximum in the second half of the match as they only feel outside the nine twice.

Player of the Game Hockey - NHL 1967/68, Nov 5th
Sunday 5th November 1967
Walton (12) stays hot for Toronto with another two goals but a 2-0 lead 8:36 into the second period was not enough as the Bruins won their third in a row. Hodge (5) scored twice and Esposito (5) nabbed one himself as they enjoyed three-point nights.
Detroit ran riot over the Kings with Howe (7) scoring twice to help the Wings win their first outing in six; the last four being losses. Oakland continued to struggle with the Blackhawks the latest side to beat up on them; Wharram (4) had the gamwinner and Mikita (7) scored twice to take Chicago to an unbeatn fun of four games; the Seals have lost six straight.
Sutherland (3) scored his first game wining goal and Angotti (8pts) assisted twice to push the Flyers over Montreal whose only goal came from Duff (3). The Canadians are still searching for their first road win (0-5-0)
