First Innings
The title would be decided at the SCG with New South Wales and South Australia meeting only once this season, The hosts would be celebrating with a win, otherwise it would go down to the teams' respective quotient ratings for the year.
New South Wales propelled themselves towards retaking the Shield with a two-day batting performance that had them sitting pretty. A pair of century makers led the assault on the Victorian bowlers to leave them hoping for a fantastic reply.
NSW 614-9 dec.
W Bardsley 137; FE McElhone 130; C Kelleway 90; CG Macartney 74; HV Hordern 70
JH Kyle 4-173
Victoria did manage a good reply, but New South Wales still enforced a follow on. A lack of triple-figure hitters hurt the away side as they struggled to hold partnerships together after the third wicket fell for a partnership of 103.
NSW 614-9 dec
VIC 421
GEJ Healy 87*; HHL Kortlang 57; W Carkeek 55; WW Armstrong 53
C Kelleway 5-75; HV Hordern 4-127
Second Innnings
Only HHL Kortlang kept his head high, outlasting half the order, and falling before a string of wickets walked off for nothing. New South Wales had a very manageable score in front of them to take the title.
NSW 614-9 dec
VIC 421 + 266
HHL Kortlang 126
HV Hordern 6-77; SH Emery 3-13
The openers did not last the distance, but celebrations were in effect long before the match officially ended to give New South Wales their twelfth Sheffield Shield title!
NSW 614-9 dec + 74-2
VIC 421 + 266
C Kelleway 31*
FJ Laver 1-6
New South Wales win by eight wickets.
VIC 421 + 266
This blog is to share results in my sports replay gaming. All of the games involve pencil, paper, cards and dice; no digital gaming here. Most games are full season replays, but there will also be some fictional competitions thrown in. It's been a while, but I hope that 2017 sees a return of blog activity.

- I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris
