Player of the Game Hockey - NHL 1967/68, Season Stats

After an unbeaten month 12-0-2, the one-hundred point season of the Montreal Canadiens caps off a terrific season as they head into the Stanley Cup Playoffs as favourites, going against the third placed Boston Bruins who ended their campaign with an average month of 5-5-2. The Detroit Red Wings, going 8-2-4 through March, claim second spot and have home ice advantage in their series against the Toronto Maple Leafs who limped into the postseason with a 9-10-6 record in the final two months.

Out West it's the St Louis Blues who take the top spot after bouncing back from a miserable February, and they will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins who just miss out on taking second place in the division as the Philadelphia Flyers won two more games than their Pennsylvanian rivals. That leaves the Los Angeles Kings facing the Flyers, and the Minnesota North Stars staying home after a dismal final two months of the season where they picked up just five wins in twenty-six matches.

Howe of Detroit finished top in the league on points with eighty-two; the ten goals he scored this month also earned him top goalscorer on the year.
