Victoria 9/14 vs South Australia 10/13
Melbourne Cricket Ground-
11th-16th February 1898
Lineups:
Victoria - CE McLeod, J Worrall, H Trumble, SA McMichael, H Graham, GHS Trott, W Bruce, JH Stuckey, JG Giller, AE Johns, W Roche
South Australia - J Darling, JJ Lyons, C Hill, JC Reedman, A Jarvis, WF Giffen, TM Drew, AE Evans, E Jones, V Hugo, J McKenzie
First Innings
Victoria could clinch their second title with a win in this match, while South Australia needs to win out here and away to New South Wales to take the Sheffield Shield.
South Australia enjoyed their start, despite the pitch staying in favour of the bowlers throughout the match. A near century from A Jarvis led the way along with WF Giffen in a 132 run partnership.
SA 339
A Jarvis 92; WF Giffen 64; JJ Lyons 59
JF Giller 3-64; W Roche 3-95
A slightly lackluster display saw Victoria fail to reach 300, with the mid-order saving them from a follow-on.
SA 339
VIC 291
W Bruce 64; JH Stuckey 58*
AE EVans 3-67; E Jones 3-94
Second Innings
South Australia kept their foot on the throats of their opponents with JC Reedman amassing a majestic score despite his supporting cast failing to stick around for long.
SA 339 + 389
VIC 291
JC Reedman 141; J Darling 79
W Roche 4-110; H Trumble 3-79
With the odds firmly stacked against Victoria on a highly degraded pitch, the near centuries of CE McLeod and GHS Trott were not enough to reach their 438 run target. A total collapse at the end of the order means that the title will not be decided until the final match of the season.
CE McLeod 97; GHS Trott 93; H Graham 49
V Hugo 6-75; E Jones 3-100
South Australia wins by 79 runs.
This blog is to share results in my sports replay gaming. All of the games involve pencil, paper, cards and dice; no digital gaming here. Most games are full season replays, but there will also be some fictional competitions thrown in. It's been a while, but I hope that 2017 sees a return of blog activity.
About M.E. myself and I

- I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris
