First Innings
Put in to bat first, Victoria stumbled out of the gate but settled enough to pass the 300 milestone. The South Australian bowlers enjoyed a lot of movement off the pitch with WJ Whitty and JDA O'Connor claiming eighteen wickets in the match; mostly LBW and clean bowled outcomes.
VIC 306
FJ Laver 69; PA McAlister 58; LP Vernon 50
WJ Whitty 5-11; JDA O'Connor 3-99
Between the outstanding play of a magnificent catch to claim high-scoring C Hill and the unlucky incident leading to his brother having to retire through injury, South Australia were not allowed a moment to match the fierce pace their opponents were bowling.
VIC 306
SA 145
C Hill 44
JV Saunders 4-47
Second Innings
Victoria decided against the follow on and instead went out to make things more difficult for the home side. The same three men from the first innings once again passed their half-centuries, with TS Warne joining them. The rest of the order remained woefully short of what is expected of them as the duo of Whitty and O'Connor ran wild again.
VIC 306 + 313
SA 145
FJ Laver 89; TS Warne 61; PA McAlister 60; LP Vernon 54
WJ Whitty 5-63; JDA O'Connor 5-105
South Australia were torn apart in short order for a second time thanks to the balanced bowling attack of Victoria. Both innings lasted around fifty overs each, but the second saw more players hit double figures.
VIC 306 + 313
SA 145 + 164
JRH Woodford 37*
LP Vernon 3-32; JV Saunders 3-48
Victoria wins by three-hundred-and-ten runs.
