Amadio (2) had a memorable game with two goals, an assist and a fight as his Kings side tied in Minnesota, and Philadelphia suffered their second defeat in a row with Montreal's Worsley shutting them out; Duff (2) scored the game winner to help the Canadians improve their recent record to one loss in six games.
Another shutout involving a Pennsylvanian newcomer resulted in Oakland dropping a fifth straight game despite Konik (4) of the Penguins becoming the only goalscorer of the game 15:56 into the second period. Detroit's Delvecchio (8) scored twice, both times assisted by Howe and Prentice, but they were already 0-4 down forcing the Red Wings to take out Edwards and install Crozier in goal just 7:17 into the match, Barclay Plager had four assists for the Blues and Sabourin (9) scored a goal and assist as St Louis ended a three game losing streak.
In the other game of the day New York were blitzed by a rampaging Leafs team who pushed Giacomin out of his net 17:05 into the second period after scoring a sixth goal past him on forty shots. Simmons fared little better with three goals against on twelve shots. For Toronto Ellis (8) scored a hat trick, Stemkowski (3) grabbed a pair and Bower registered his second shutout of the year. F Mahovlich took his assists into double figures on the year with four helpers, Walton has nine assists with his three tonight, and Pappin (1) scored a penalty shot.
