Walton was held pointless for Toronto as they go a seventh game without victory; Conacher (2), Stanley (3) and F Mahovlich (5) did get on the scoresheet.
Chicago are also in a rut with one win in their last five, Wharram (6) the only Blackhawk goalscorer against Detroit. Grant (1) had a goal and an assist for his first points in the season and H Richard (4) also had a mutli point game as Montreal beat the Kings with Irvine (3) grabbing their only goal, condemning LA to a run of eleven games that contain only two wins.
Nevin (6) opened the scoring for the Rangers, becoming the team's top goal getter, but they end up winless for a sixth straight match blowing 2-0 and 3-1 leads. Minnesota had McCord (2) join the first-timers club before Cullen tied it up at 17:53 in the 3rd period; the North Stars are also six without a win.
St Louis also had the lead in Philadelphia, Schock (1) scoring that one, but despite Bob Plager also opening his point account and Crisp registering two helpers of his own the Flyers took both points. Hannigan (1) and Hoekstra (3) at 19:50 turned the game around before the first intermission with Sutherland (5) scoring the go-ahead goal 16:09 into the final frame for a third straight win, five in their last seven.
