Boston continue to dominate the NHL taking their unbeaten streak to twelve games (9-0-3) by beating New York. The Rangers now have one win in eight despite taking a 2-0 lead 4:50 into the second period thanks to goals from Ratelle (6) and Fleming (6) and, after Esposito (10) pulled one back for the Bruins, Gilbert (7) made it 3-1 on the powerplay. Boston then took over with tallies from Stanfield (5), Hodge (11), Williams's (8) game winning goal and Sather's (1) empty netter for four unanswered goals in the third period.
The other game of the night was between two of the Original Six sides with Chicago blowing a 3-1 lead in the third period. Mikita (14) and Wharram (7) both had a goal and an assist to put the Blackhawks 2-0 up before D Hull (1) added their third in the final frame. Montreal relied on Rousseau (3) to register two points in the third period including the game tying goal.
