The Blackhawks had a 2-1 lead after the first period with R Hull (6) moving up to joint second on team scoring with fifteen points (Wharram 5+10); Mikita leads with ten goals and six assists.
Detroit had to work hard for their third win in a row with Howe (9) on a three point night and Prentice (8) scoring twice. Montreal are 0-7-0 on the road, G Tremblay (7) scored to lead the Canadians in goals. Oakland managed to score just once on twelve powerplay opportunities, Caron (2) scoring on the man advantage and Odrowski (2) helping them to a tie in New York. The Rangers came from behind twice with contributions from Seiling (2) and a shorthanded goal from Hadfield (4)
