CDR: 2009 Funny Car ACDelco NHRA Gator Nationals - Qual #1

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - GAINESVILLE - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 40th annual ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, vehicle, elapsed time, and top speed::

Cruz Pedragon is the only driver to get under 4.3 seconds in his Solara, but a host of other drivers, including the fastest qualifier's brother and championship leader Tony, are not far behind. All drivers are saving their second left lane for their final run.

A trio of non-starters (Andy Kelley, Mike Smith, Terry Haddock) will be hoping for better things to come, as will those other problems. Gary Densham and Justin Schriefer reported problems with their steering, and Del Worsham didn't get far himself before cancelling his run. With wheelspin causing havoc for many drivers, the left lane looks an increasingly safe bet.
