About M.E. myself and I

Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom
I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris

Detroit Red Wings lead the best-of-seven series 1-0

1st 2nd 3rd T
(4) DET 0 2 3 5
(2) MON 1 1 0 2

The first line of Detroit dominated after a rather pedestrian first period that saw Montreal take a 1-0 lead through Dickie Moore. Alex Delvecchio scored the game-winning goal, his only point of the match, but Gordie Howe's hat trick and five-point night was the highlight for Red Wings fans, bettering Parker MacDonald's four point haul.

Ultimately the Canadiens were unable to stay out of trouble conceding three goals while shorthanded against the second best powerplay team in the regular season.

Toronto Maple Leafs lead the best-of-seven series 1-0

1st 2nd 3rd T
(3) TOR 2 1 1 4
(1) CHI 1 0 0 1

There were two talking points heading into this series. Firstly, both teams enter the postseason on poor form. Chicago were winless in their last four and won only two games in the final ten. Toronto also won just three games down the same final stretch and lost four of their final five in the regular season.

The second discussion involved the goaltending for the Maple Leafs. Johnny Bower had played the best part of twice as many games as Don Simmons (44/25) but won only eighteen of them compared with the backup's fourteen. Simmons' save percentage (.937) and goals against average (2.20) also beat Bower (.922 / 2.89) but the latter won in shutouts five to one. In the end Toronto announced they would go with their number one.

That turned out to be a good decision as Chicago were only able to get a single puck past Johnny Bower on thirty-eight shots to make it 2-1 in the second half of the opening period. George Armstrong and Ron Stewart had put the Leafs 2-0 ahead in the opening six minutes. Toronto's Kent Douglas then took a double-minor for high-sticking to start the second period, four of his total six minutes in the game, but the Blackhawks failed to make the most of their chance to tie the game. A second goal for Stewart and Frank Mahovlich's insurance early in the third sealed an all important road win for Toronto.
