The season has long been over for the Boston Bruins but after taking three points out of the Rangers in two days they have killed off New York's last hope of reaching the playoffs. The Rangers were chasing two goal deficits in both the first and second periods with Boston jumping out of the gate in the first five minutes of each frame. New York were able to halve the gap before the midpoint of the periods but never take a crucial lead in the game and they are one match away from the golf courses despite scoring more goals than any other team and holding the top powerplay record in the NHL.
