Tochitsurugi upset the leader in the Juyro Koboyama allowing Saisu to tie him on an 8-1 record, but Kurohimeyama missed a big chance to win that match. While not able to compete against the legendary match in the Makuuchi, Hachiya was able to prevent Yamaguchi from winning his first contest in an exciting match that had close chances for both parties.
