Another tough battle was fought between these two sides, starting with New South Wales falling just a little shy of five-hundred. Five wickets fell after reaching between 78-84 runs in a curious coincidence, and the remaining batsmen all managed to reach double figures.

A slower start for Victoria meant they could not quite match their opponents' score, but a great last wicket stand of 138 at least got them beyond the follow-on point and close to the total of NSW.

Second Innings
Two great batting performances were responsible for New South Wales again passing 450, but, with the exception of A Cotter, all other batsmen failed to produce against some very good bowling.

The pitch had deteriorated throughout the match from a good batting wicket to one that ended up giving the Victorian batsmen nightmares. A lot of solid fielding complemented the bowling attack, stopping Victoria getting much of a rhythm after the second wicket fell for a partnership of 133.
