About M.E. myself and I

Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom
I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris

CW 1913/14 (S22) Game 2: Victoria vs South Australia

Victoria vs South Australia
Melbourne Cricket Ground
26th-27th, 29th-31st December 1913

Lineups:
Victoria- RL Park, HHG Bracher, FA Baring, VS Ransford, TJ Matthews, J Ryder,WW Armstrong, EV Carroll, W Carkeek, JL McNaughton, WH Cannon

South Australia- ER Mayne, DM Steele, AG Moyes, JN Crawford, WL Chamberlain, CE Pellew, PD Rundell, HP Kirkwood, HHM Bridgman, KN Steele, CL Winser

First Innings
South Australia again put themselves in to bat first, but this time the wicket was not looking so healthy and would degrade further as the match wore on. A solid start was stalled when they moved from 117-2 to 118-5; DM Steel high-scoring at that point with 46. CE Pellew then came in and took control while others continued to crumble around him. This led to a good score for their bowlers to protect.

SA 340
CE Pellew 146; DM Steele 46
WH Cannon 4-67; WW Armstrong 2-69

Victoria had their own hero centurion as FA Baring walked out to the crease early in his side's first innings after HHG Bracher was caught at short leg for just 9 (WL Chamberlain's only wicket of the innings after his duck with the bat). A pair of ducks (J Ryder, WW Armstrong) helped the side crash to 235-7 with four wickets falling without a run scored in between, but a late rally took them over 300 and touching distance.

SA 340
VIC 316
FA Baring 122; W Carkeek 45
KN Steele 3-29; HP Kirkwood 3-79

Second Innings
The deteriorated pitch started to make it's presence felt as South Australia added less than half their first innings score to the total. DM Steele was a rock they had to rely on as three ducks - including first innings century-maker CE Pellew - were among eight batsmen who failed to score higher than 17.

SA 340 + 219
VIC 316
DM Steele 104; JN Crawford 41
WH Cannon 3-48; J Ryder 3-67

Striding out to bat for victory the Victorians were soon in a spin as the first four batsmen were skulking back in with only seventeen runs on the board; both FA Baring and VS Ransford unable to add any contribution to the team. Another two wickets fell to make the score 44-6 but an excellent partnership between WW Armstrong and EV Caroll took Victoria onwards to 140-7, leaving another 70 runs to come and a shortfall.

SA 340 + 219
VIC 316 + 210
EV Carroll 90; WW Armstrong 52
WL Chmaberlain 3-61; JN Crawford 3-72

South Australia win by thirty-three runs.
