The Detroit Red Wings lose three in a row for the second time this year as they meet a Boston side or have one defeat in their last thirteen games with Williams (10) helping the Bruins go from 0-1 down to 5-1 up. Minnesota move up to second place in the West thanks to back-to-back wins for the third time, Goldsworthy (7) scored a hat trick all assisted by Boudrias while Chicago are now bottom of the East with one win in their last nine and a five game losing skid.


Giacomin earns his second shutout of the season as New York win their second in three games after going 0-3-3. Neilson (4) scored the game winner on a man advantage and Ratelle (7) put the game to bed with an empty netter to push St Louis down to third in the West. Finally Philadelphia win their fifth game in the last six with goals from Hannigan (3), Gauthier (1) with the game winner and two from Kennedy (3). The Kings have one victory in five, B Smith (7) the only LA goalscorer.
