The Kings continue their good run of form going four games unbeaten but they could have done better, H Hughes (1), L MacDonald (12) and Labossiere's (9) two points had them up 3-1 after two periods. Pittsburgh had previously scored through Konik (7) but need third period goals from Bathgate (12) and W Hicks (4) to earn them a point.
Minnesota miss out on a chance to go top of the West with their second loss in three games but came close to staging a terrific comeback from 2-5 down deep into the third period. P MacDonald's (10) first of two goals on the night and Connolly (18) had the North Stars up 2-1 at the first intermission, Sutherland (10) opening the game's scoring for the Flyers.
Dornhoefer (9), two goals from Hannigan (11) and the vital fifth goal on the powerplay from Selby (11) put Philadelphia, who have four of the last six, up by three before P MacDonald grabbed his second at 17:17 in the third period and McMahon (5) made the final a nailbiter.
