Pittsburgh miss out on the chance to reclaim fourth spot in the West despite taking a 2-0 lead 9:12 in the second period when K McCreary (10) was set up by Dillabough on the powerplay. Earlier in the game Rivard (2) had got the ball rolling thanks to good work from bathgate and McDonald.

After a scoreless third period the point each means that the Blues are now 4-3-3 in theri last ten games and go second in the West, while the Penguins, with two wins in their last ten, are tied with Los Angeles for the final playoff berth in this division.
