About M.E. myself and I

Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom
I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris

CDR: 2009 Eliminations #1 - O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 1 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil:

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 1 L Tim WILKERSON Mustang 0.091 4.245 292.3
L 16 R Grant DOWNING Monte Carlo 0.089 9.847 56.8

Grant Downing's fourth successful qualification this season ends as the other three did when he lost in the first race. Reliability problems hit him early on leaving Tim Wilkerson with a 14-5 record in the first race.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 8 R Mike NEFF Mustang 0.093 5.450 282.5
L 9 L Jim HEAD Solara 0.108 No Time N/A

This was the third meeting of the year between the two drivers and Mike Neff now has a 2-1 advantage over the unfortunate Jim Head who suffered a poor start that lead to lack of control.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 4 L Ron CAPPS Charger 0.089 4.315 291.5
L 13 R Jerry TOLIVER Monte Carlo 0.121 No Time N/A

Ron Capps gets his revenge after suffering defeat in the quarterfinals of the opening event this season. Jerry Toliver was looking in okay shape until a third major malfunction of the day cursed one of the drivers.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 5 L Matt HAGAN Charger 0.077 4.012 313.3
L 12 R John FORCE Mustang 0.099 4.315 297.5

After failing to qualify at the O'Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals, Matt Hagan gets back to work against one of his regular rivals, extending his record to 4-1 over 7-12 John Force. Both men looked in contention for much of the race until a late surge from Hagan sealed the win.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 15 L Bob TASCA III Mustang 0.125 4.909 276.5
L 2 R Jeff AREND Solara 0.088 5.833 254.5

It's 3-for-3 for Tasca III over Jeff Arend this season, but only a hiccup inside the losing car allowed Bob Tasca III to drive into his eighteenth quarterfinal in 2009. Arend now has a 18-18 race record.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 10 R Tony PEDREGON Impala 0.069 4.244 289.0
L 7 L Bob GILBERTSON Stratus 0.057 4.436 287.0

This could be it for Bob Gilerbtson's chances at winning the championship this season after losing to Tony Pedregon for the third time in four races. It looked like Gilbertson was making a strong comeback through the second half of the contest, but Pedregon held on for his sixth consecutive first race win.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 3 R Robert HIGHT Mustang 0.124 4.627 284.5
L 14 L Jack WYATT Firebird 0.117 5.125 277.5

Two wins out of two over Jack Wyatt, both in the past five events, moves Hight up to an 11-18 record and his ninth QF race. Wyatt has lost seven straight races since reaching the semifinal of the United Association Route 66 NHRA Nationals.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 6 L Ashley FORCE-HOOD Mustang 0.111 4.633 287.0
L 11 R Del WORSHAM Solara 0.099 4.900 294.5

The final race was quite close and surely Del Worsham would have won if not for the wheelspin early on. Ashley Force-Hood goes into her thirteenth quarterfinal race with a 5-6 record in her last six qualifications.

Second Elimination Round Schedule (Asterisk indicates fastest driver in previous round and gets the lane choice)
(1)* Tim Wilkerson vs Mike Neff (8)
(3)* Robert Hight vs Ashley Force-Hood (6)
(5)* Matt Hagan vs Ron Capps (4)
(10)* Tony Pedregon vs Bob Tasca III (15)
