CDR: 2009 Qual #2 - O'Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals

ENNIS, Texas - DALLAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 24th annual O'Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

After mechanical troubles prevented him from getting off the line in his first run, Mike Smith, who has ualified in seven consecutive events, shoots straight up to the top of the pile. The addition of Brian Thiel from twenty-first bumps Del Worsham down to third, with another driver making amends for a troubled opening attempt, nine times top-five qualifier Robert Hight, now in fourth. All this movement means that Jack Beckman, Cruz Pedregon and Jack Wyatt are all outside of the sixteen qualification spots.

Ron Capps and Tony Pedregon remain locked together, but are now up in fifth and sixth places, helping to bump the two Bob's, Tasca III and Bode, down to seventh and eighth. The other Bob, Gilbertson, remains down the order.
