CDR: 2009 Qual #1 - O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - MEMPHIS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Jeff Arend starts out as the fastest in a run that saw no less than eight competitors fail to put a time in, while three-time qualifier Justin Schreifer limped home. Championship leader Tony Pedregon is sixth, almost three-tenths down on Arend, and Bob Tasca III is nearly half a second back in eleventh.

The fastest qualifier in the past two events, Matt Hagan, sits in second place while Mike Neff is looking good in third for his twentieth successful qualification in a row after missing out in the first round of the year. Del Worsham and Ron Capps continue to be joined at the hip in fourth and fifth spots.
