DINWIDDIE, Va. - RICHMOND - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Virginia NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Tony Pedregon takes his eighty-two point lead into round twenty-two of the 2009 NHRA Funny Car season and ends the first qualifying session on top, but only nine-thousandths of a second faster than Ashley Force-Hood. Title challenger Bob Tasca III needs some luck if he is take the championship and he is currently ninth fastest.
