Both fighters match up well and it was expected to go right to the wire, and it was a close contest, but LaBarba got in a thunderous right-hand hook to put his opponent on the deck for a full count in the sixth round. Lynch had the approval of the judges in the opening two rounds, but the Californian came back to take the next two. Round five was even, and LaBarba had the upperhand when they met in the middle again.
Both men were trying to stick and move, but the Scotsman was unable to keep in touch, and ended up paying a heavy price when LaBarba knocked him out with few seconds to go in the round. Lynch came close himself with a real bodyrocker in that same round, but LaBarba stood tall to deliver the winning blow
