First Innings
The wicket was perfect for the batsmen, and Victoria walked out to the crease confident they could get a good score in first. The opening partnership performed well before a short flurry of wickets, but then WW Armstrong and JF Giller took hold of the game. Once they fell things slipped away slightly as they put up sixty-eight runs after they were 242-3.

New South Wales looked far from impressive in their reply, but still managed to milk a few players' scores to take the lead. Things looked troubling for them as they plummeted from 204-2 to 224-8, but a ship-steadying performance from the nine spot held things together in style.

Second Innings
A spirited bowling attack had Victoria floundering and unable to find a foothold to work on. Things looked better after falling 114-6, but once the next batsman walked back to the pavilion, the rest tumbled for just one more run.
