Baring a disqualification, Canto had already booked his place into the next round of the tournament, but did not hold back on his opponent who was trying to guarantee his place as well. A warning in the third round for elbowing woke Canto up a little bit, but Laciar kept the pressure on throughout the match, winning eight of the twelve rounds.
The Mexican had a storming tenth round, coming close on three occasions to putting the Argentine on the matn while Laciar rocked Canto in both the first and final rounds. Both men were cut open in the mouth, and Laciar also picked up a broken nose in the sixth. Overall, a good contest that could have gone either way, and books both men out of the group stage.
