South Australia vs Victoria
Adelaide Oval
13th, 15th-18th November 1909
Lineups:
South Australia- ER Mayne, LR Hill, C Hill, DRA Gehrs, N Claxton, S Hill, AH Woolcock, WA Hewer, RBC Rees, GC Campbell, LE Howard
Victoria- J Ainslie, FT Delves, TS Warne, C Mckenzie, DBM Smith, JF Horan, WJ Scott, GR Hazlitt, NL Speirs, JV Saunders, WH Reeves
First Innings
South Australia were put in to bat first and, despite a pair of minor blips, they performed admirably right down to the tailenders. Victoria's fielding was sharp with seven catches, but chances were too few and far between for their liking. At least the pitch would remain solid for batting for their first trips to the crease.
SA 491
N Claxton 101; ER Mayne 93; WA Hewer 78
JV Saunders 4-109; GR Hazlitt 4-133
Unfortunately for the visitors the South Australian bowlers found a way to deal with a batting-friendly pitch as they kept Victoria on the back foot for twenty-four hours giving themselves a big advantage.
SA 491
VIC 289
DBM Smith 77; J Ainslie 60; JF Horan 53
RBC Rees 4-75; WA Hewer 3-23
Second Innings
South Australia elected to not enforce the follow-on, but instead build up a tougher total for them to see out. Declaring at lunch on day three, S Hill could feel just slightly aggrieved as his innings ended on 49*
SA 491 + 312-6 dec.
VIC 289
ER Mayne 88; C Hill 68;
JV Saunders 3-89
It was always going to be a mountain to climb and Victoria were only able to reach halfway before succumbing to the inevitable.
SA 491 + 312-6 dec.
VIC 289 + 257
J Ainslie 81; C Mckenzie 51
RBC Rees 4-78
South Australia win by two-hundred-and-fifty-seven runs.
This blog is to share results in my sports replay gaming. All of the games involve pencil, paper, cards and dice; no digital gaming here. Most games are full season replays, but there will also be some fictional competitions thrown in. It's been a while, but I hope that 2017 sees a return of blog activity.

- I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris
