Two goals in the opening forty-one seconds of period number two, the first just thirteen seconds after the puck dropped, gave Toronto a 3-0 lead and had them well on the way to a fourth win in eleven games against the Blackhawks. Special teams are often important but, despite Chicago scoring twice on the man advantage and the Maple Leafs failing to score on four minutes of 5-on-3 in the first period, this game was decided by what happened even strength.
