For the second event running Jim Head loses out to a Pedregon. He barely got off at the start before something gave way allowing Cruz Pedregon to take the win, putting in the fastest time of the quarterfinals.

After winning four events in the first six rounds Tony Pedregon has only made one final, losing for the first time in three races to three-times runner-up Tim Wilkerson. Wilkerson had some car issues to fix between races but it was the start that ultimately decided this one.

Cruz ended up off the track, losing control thanks to a tyre blowout. Gilbertson's win streak is now seven races as he looks for his third event win of the year, second in a row.

And Bob Gilbertson does just that as the mechanical problems continue right until the end which was unlucky for Arend after a blistering getaway.
