About M.E. myself and I

Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom
I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris

CDR: 2009 Funny Car NHRA Northwest Nationals Elim #1

KENT, Wash. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 1 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual NHRA Northwest Nationals:

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 9 L Brian THIEL Monte Carlo 0.018 4.613 4.613
L 8 R Jeff AREND Solara 0.086 6.518 199.8

Brian Thiel advances to his fourth quarterfinal this season after beating Jeff Arend, the man who defeated Thiel in his last successful qualification three events past. The loser was very slow at the start of this race and wheelspin added to his woes.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 7 R Mike SMITH Monte Carlo 0.105 4.768 279.0
L 10 L Ashley FORCE-HOOD Mustang 0.106 4.769 283.5

An exciting race that flowed back and forth between the two resulted in the closest finish anyone will see this season. Mike Smith won out in the first meeting between the two drivers, and only his third victory all year, by getting away well at the beginning and recovering from a Force-Hood comeback midway down the track.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 11 L Bob TASCA III Mustang 0.029 4.372 282.0
L 6 R Mike NEFF Mustang 0.111 5.430 210.5

A Mopar Mile-High semifinalist in the last round, Mike Neff lost to Bob Tasca III to go 0-3 against three-time finalist after his blower belt comes clean off at the very end of the race. Tasca III looked good for the win in any case.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 5 R Matt HAGAN Charger 0.064 4.505 298.5
L 12 L Ron CAPPS Charger 0.095 4.807 295.0

The seventh race between these two gives Matt Hagan a 4-3 advantage in 2009, five of the contests coming in the first round of events. Ron Capps found himself behind from the start and there was just no way back.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 1 R Del WORSHAM Solara 0.069 4.206 306.3
L 16 L Tony PEDREGON Impala 0.080 4.217 313.3

Del Worsham is Tony Pedregon's biggest nemesis this season, beating him three times in first round match-ups and losing only once in the Spring Nationals semifinals. It was almost a 2-2 season record when Worsham was forced to correct some late wheelspin.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 2 R John SMITH Monte Carlo 0.099 4.370 297.5
L 15 L Cruz PEDREGON Solara RED No Time N/A

His first ever qualification was good by itself, but his first race would have beaten five of the other winners here at Kent, but he had very little to worry about from Cruz Pedregon as he red lighted.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 4 R Tim WILKERSON Mustang 0.096 4.056 294.8
L 13 L Robert HIGHT Mustang 0.109 5.513 262.0

A simple enough victory for the three-times defeated finalist Tim Wilkerson with Robert Hight falling at the first hurdle for the eighth time in his twelve qualifications.

W/L # L Driver Car R/T E.T. Speed
W 3 R Bob GILBERTSON Stratus 0.020 4.501 287.5
L 14 L Daniel WILKERSON Impala 0.099 4.719 274.5

This first time battle was closer than predicted as the gap was rapidly shrinking before Daniel Wilkerson ran out of track to complete his comeback. Bob Gilbertson takes his twenty-fifth win in '09.

Second Elimination Round Schedule (Asterisk indicates fastest driver in previous round and gets the lane choice)
(1)* Del Worsham vs Brian Thiel (9)
(2)* John Smith vs Mike Smith (7)
(3) Bob Gilbertson vs Bob Tasca III (11)*
