About M.E. myself and I

Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom
I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris

CW 1923/24 (S27) Game 5: New South Wales vs Victoria

New South Wales vs Victoria
Sydney Cricket Ground
26th, 28th-31st January 1924

Lineups-
New South Wales- HL Collins, W Bardsley, CG Macartney, TJE Andrews, AF Kippax, ATE Punh, HSTL Hendry, WAS Oldfield, JD Scott, AA Mailey, JCLS Wall

Victoria- ER Mayne, WM Woodfull, HSB Love, WH Ponsford, J Ryder, AEV Hartkopf, VS Ransford, AE Liddicut, TA Carlton, JL Ellis, PH Wallace

First Innings
In a game that Victoria had to win in order to stay in the running  for this years title they did not enjoy the best of starts, limping over the 300 mark thanks to AE Liddcut's top score. ER Mayne was a quick out, caught at slip off HSTL Hendry's bowling, and then things stabalised for the team with 40+ scores from WM Woodfull and WH Posnford sandwiching the tally from HSB Love. J Ryder (3) and AEV Hartkopf (0) left together before AE Liddicut set to his days' work.

VIC 301
AE Liddicut 79; HSB Love 63
HSTL Hendry 4-93; AA Mailey 2-66

A win here would give New South Wales another title to add to their impressive collection despite a pedestrian start. HL Collins (37) and W Bardsley (30) were both gone with 70 on the board, but the partnership of CG Macartney and TJE Andrews, the latter then partnered with AF Kippax (43) and HSTL Hendry later on, kicked their innings up a notch to take a good lead.

VIC 301
NSW 426
TJE Andrews 124; HSTL Hendry 63; CG Macartney 50
J Ryder 3-30; AE Liddicut 3-91

Second Innings
An improved start from Victoria meant that they did lose a wicket until they were 95-0. At that point JCLS Wall took care of both ER Mayne (36) and half-centurion WM Woodfull by lbw and bowled respectively. The trio of HSB Love, WH Ponsford and J Ryder only managed to rustle up a further 44 runs between them, all dealt with by AA Mailey, but the day was saved by AEV Hartkopf more than making up for his first innings duck. PH Wallace (41) provided some valuable runs late on as the pitch disintegrated under their feet.

VIC 301 + 445
NSW 426
AEV Hartkopf 176; WM Woodfull 54
AA Mailey 4-117; JCLS Wall 3-99

For a surprise turn of events the reliable pairing of HL Collins (7) and W Bardsley (1) were swiftly taken out of the equation, and they were followed in regular intervals by another four batsmen, including TJE Andrews who only managed 18 this time before a fine piece of fielding at short leg ended his efforts, leaving NSW at 110-6, 211 away from victory. ATE Punch managed to weather the storm, but only WAS Oldfield joined him in scoring more than 18 runs. Victoria can now take the Sheffield Shield with a win in the final match of the season.

VIC 301 + 445
NSW 426 + 209
ATE Punch 85; WAS Oldfield 32
AE Liddicut 3-44; TA Carlton 3-48; AEV Hartkopf 3-50

Victoria win by one-hundred-and-eleven runs.
