The second of six Bashos begins today and there are a few changes to the two divisions. Moving up into the Makuuchi are Daijuyama, Hidanohana, Iwanami and Onishiki, and they replace Banryuyama, Mitsuruyama and Toryu who will now compete in the Juryo, and Takanohana who remains unavailable due to the injury he sustained in day seven of the Hatsu basho.
There was better news for Kaiki. He has recovered from the injury he picked up late in the previous tournament and is one of the eighteen winners on opening day, defeating Amanoyama. Kitanoumi was the only man to go unbeaten in the Hatsu, but today he started a little sluggishly just beating out Ozutsu, and Washuyama, who managed three wins last time out, gets a win over Kurosegawa for the only real surprise of the day.

This technique is commonly seen as a desperation move when the attacker is out on the edge of the ring. The winner is able to drive his opponent down to the clay - earning it's name which translates as "Thrust Down" - placing a hand on the ribs or shoulder.

This blog is to share results in my sports replay gaming. All of the games involve pencil, paper, cards and dice; no digital gaming here. Most games are full season replays, but there will also be some fictional competitions thrown in. It's been a while, but I hope that 2017 sees a return of blog activity.

- I have been an M.E. sufferer for a long time now, but sports replay gaming is an easy hobby for me to enjoy. Originally from Canvey Island, Essex, I was introduced to replay gaming a few years ago, leading to my first purchase: Cricket World. Most sports I share will be common, but there are some more obscure replays thrown in. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to say hello! - Chris
