New York are level again with the Red Wings for that final playoff spot but this time around both sides were perfect on the penalty kill with the teams going 0-for-3. The Rangers outshot Detroit in the first and deserved their two goal advantage, but the Red Wings returned the favour in the second to tie the game heading into a penalty filled final period. The action was split evenly but New York came out on top thanks in part to Detroit taking late penalties when they were chasing the game.
