Any chance New York had of making the playoffs may be over as they were blown out by Boston in their own barn. The Rangers could have believed they had a very good chance of winning this game and that is why they rested Gump Worsley, laying the goaltending burden on Marcel Paille, but it backfired and now New York needs to win the return game against the Bruins before returning home to take on the Canadiens.
